The tragic incident occurred on Friday at Adegbe Village, Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to eyewitnesses, a heated argument broke out between the brothers regarding the consumption of foodstuffs in their household. The altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which Kosisochukwu reportedly used a stick to pierce Emmanuel’s chest.

“The victim fell down immediately after being pierced in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” an eyewitness recounted.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that Kosisochukwu was apprehended around 7 p.m. on Friday by police officers attached to the Abagana Divisional Headquarters, with the assistance of local vigilante operatives.

Ikenga revealed that the suspect admitted to engaging his elder brother in a fight, which ultimately led to the fatal attack.

“This incident is quite disturbing and highlights the importance of addressing domestic violence and conflicts among family members. It also underscores the need for proper conflict resolution and emotional management to prevent such tragic outcomes,” Ikenga said.

The police spokesman further disclosed that the case had been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation. He added that the suspect would be charged in court upon the completion of the inquiry.
