Breaking: Activist Deji Adeyanju re-Arrested in Abuja

Rivers State has recorded its first case of coronavirus announced the Nigeria Centre for Disease Wednesday.

Rights activist and convener of  the Concerned Nigerians group, Deji Adeyanju, has been re-arrested according to sources close to him.

Deji, who was initially arrested along side two others, Daniel Abobama and Boma Williams, in November on allegations of criminal defamation and breach of public peace has been a vocal critic of the Buhari administration.

He and others were later arraigned on allegations raging from public disturbance to criminal defamation and cyber stalking. He was released on bail on the 6th of December after been remanded in prison for 8 days.

Sources revealed that his personal driver recounted that he was invited to the FCT police command to collect his phones, which have been with the police since his arrest in November, but was re-arrested on arrival at the station.

It is not clear if this recent arrest is connected to the previous case.

Deji had argued that his arrest was undue as he was only protesting the politicization of the Nigeria police.

His arrest in November attracted reactions from Nigerians on the social media with many demanding his release using the hash tag #FreeDejiNow.
