Calabar, Nigeria – The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture in Cross River State, Mr. Robert Ewa, has passed away. His death occurred on Wednesday evening at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, the state capital.
Reports from Channels TV indicate that Mr. Ewa was present earlier in the day at a State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting presided over by Governor Bassey Otu. Hours later, he was confirmed dead at the hospital.
At the time of this report, members of the Cross River State Executive Council and other aides of the governor had gathered at the hospital to console the late commissioner’s family.
Mr. Ewa had an extensive record of public service in Cross River State. He previously held the positions of Secretary and Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council. Additionally, he served as Special Adviser on Community Relations and Secretary of the Anti-Deforestation Task Force.
The state government has yet to issue an official statement regarding his death.
For now, Mr. Ewa’s demise marks a significant loss for the state and its administration, with tributes already pouring in from colleagues and stakeholders across the state.
