Lagos, Nigeria — Former Lagos State Police spokesperson, ACP Chike Oti, has made a public appeal for financial assistance as he battles a severe kidney condition. Diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, Oti requires N25 million for a life-saving kidney transplant.
In a statement released on Thursday, Oti, currently serving as ACP DFA at the Railway Police Command in Ebute Meta, Lagos, shared details of his diagnosis.
He revealed that the condition, caused by unmitigated high blood pressure, was confirmed at Lagoon Hospital, Bourdillon Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.
“My dear brothers and sisters, I was recently diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, also known as end-stage renal disease,” Oti stated. “My only chance to stay alive is to undergo hemodialysis twice a week until I can raise the N25 million needed for a kidney transplant.”
Oti disclosed that he has already spent approximately N3.5 million on initial treatments during a one-week stay at Lagoon Hospital. However, the ongoing costs of treatment have exceeded his financial capacity, prompting the appeal for public support.
