President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for a six-month extension of service for Mr. Samuel Atang, the newly appointed Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Civil Service Commission.

In a letter signed by Chidi Amadi, Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, it was revealed that the extension, effective from March 27, 2024, coinciding with Atang’s 60th birthday, aims to provide stability for the restructuring of the FCT Administration.

Atang, along with other officials, was sworn in on March 18 by the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf. The decision to extend Atang’s service period is seen as essential for ensuring the smooth transition and consolidation of processes within the FCT Administration, particularly following the inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

“The extension of your service is premised on the need to stabilize and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT Administration occasioned by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission,” the letter stated.

With this extension, Atang is expected to utilize the additional time to further enhance administrative efficiency and streamline operations within the FCT Civil Service Commission.
