A UK court has sentenced a 39-year-old man, Guy Mukendi, to 4 years and 3 months in prison for removing condom without consent during sex. This landmark case is a significant milestone in the prosecution of non-consensual condom removal, classified as rape in England and Wales.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the victim had consented to sex with Mukendi on the condition that a condom was used. However, during the encounter, he removed the condom without her knowledge or consent.

The police emphasized that such prosecutions are rare due to under-reporting, but they are committed to pursuing justice for victims. Detective Constable Jack Earl, who led the investigation, stated that the team built a compelling case against Mukendi, leaving no doubt in the jury’s mind.

The Met’s dedication to a suspect-focused approach to crimes affecting women and girls has led to this successful prosecution. The force encourages victims to come forward, promising to take allegations seriously and investigate thoroughly.

“Mukendi’s conviction and sentencing serve as a warning that non-consensual condom removal is a serious offense, and perpetrators will be held accountable,” Jack stated.
