Gunmen have attacked and burnt down the residence of Eris Paul, a former ex-militant leader also known as General Ogunbos, at his country home in Peremabiri Community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The attack was said to have occurred in the early hours of Friday, Christmas Day. Armed men stormed the community in speed boats, shooting indiscriminately before setting General Ogunbos’ building on fire.
Butswat Ansimi, Bayelsa State Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the report and noted that normalcy had been restored in the area.
In 2016, police declared Ogunbos wanted over election violence that claimed the lives of over 14 persons including soldiers and policemen.
