Lagos State, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed plans by the state government to acquire 2,050 vehicles.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, Osiyemi highlighted that the procurement, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles, aims to mitigate queues at bus stations.
“We’re aware of the long queues in all our stations, especially on Mondays. We’re working better to serve the good people of Lagos State,” Osiyemi stated.
He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships, noting that an oil company has pledged support by providing 50 electric buses in addition to the state’s procurement efforts.
The commissioner reassured residents that the influx of vehicles would alleviate the burden of long queues, aligning with the state government’s commitment to improving public transportation.
Earlier, the government had announced a 25 per cent reduction in transportation fares across all routes as part of palliative measures to address congestion in bus stations.
