Vatican City – Pope Francis, 88, sustained a bruise on his right forearm following a fall at his residence in the Vatican, the Holy See confirmed on Thursday.
The incident marks his second fall in two months, raising concerns about the pontiff’s health as he continues to face age-related challenges.
The Vatican press office released a statement noting that the fall occurred at the Santa Marta residence, where the Pope resides. While no fractures were detected, his arm has been immobilized as a precautionary measure.
“This morning, due to a fall at the Santa Marta house, Pope Francis suffered a contusion on his right forearm, without fractures. The arm was immobilized as a precautionary measure,” the statement read.
In December, Pope Francis was seen with a large bruise on his right jaw, reportedly caused by a fall from his bed. Over the years, the pontiff has dealt with various health issues, including chronic knee and hip pain, recurrent episodes of bronchitis, and an increasing reliance on a wheelchair since 2022.
