Ibadan, Nigeria – Prominent Islamic scholar and preacher, Alhaji Muyideen Bello, has passed away at the age of 84. The revered cleric, known for his profound teachings and fearless preaching, was born in 1940 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
His death was announced on Friday morning by Alfa Aribidesi of At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, another respected Islamic leader. Tributes have since poured in from followers and colleagues mourning the loss of the scholar.
Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju, popularly known as Aponle Anabi, a devoted follower and Islamic singer, shared the news on his official Facebook page, posting an image of the late scholar with tearful emojis as a mark of respect and sorrow.
Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeek, an Ibadan-based cleric, also expressed his grief in a heartfelt Facebook post. “Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah Firdaus for you. Our hearts are full of grief and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator, the sole commander of life and death – Allah,” he wrote.
