In recent days, a fraudulent message has been spreading across various social media platforms in Ogun State, falsely claiming that Governor Dapo Abiodun is offering N10,000 cash palliative per person across the state.
The scam message, which includes a link for individuals to apply for the supposed cash palliative, has prompted the Ogun State Government to issue a stern warning to the public.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Governor, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the government categorically disclaims the message, labelling it as an obvious scam.
The statement emphasized that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun is dedicated to genuinely alleviating the suffering of citizens and residents through various empowerment programs and policies, not through such fraudulent schemes.
The government clarified that it has not initiated any cash transfer program through the link provided in the scam message, which directs users to “taskcashup.com/get/OGUN-st-re…“.
This link was deemed fraudulent and unauthorized by the government. Officials warned that attempting to access or provide personal information through this link poses significant risks to individuals.
Furthermore, the government emphasized that authentic information regarding government intervention programs and initiatives is disseminated only through official channels, including government websites, press releases, and official social media handles. Any information not originating from these official sources should be treated with suspicion and avoided.
The public was urged to exercise caution and refrain from sharing such fraudulent messages. Despite the prevalence of scams, the Ogun State Government reiterated its commitment, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, to improving the lives of the people of the state, especially during trying times, while ensuring their safety and security.
In a similar development, Governor Abiodun announced a N50,000 grant for the 27,600 indigent students of Ogun State. The development was made known to the public on Sunday morning on the official X microblog account of the state government.
