Abuja, Nigeria – The National Assembly has announced a one-week shift in the resumption date for plenary sessions, moving the initial date from Tuesday, April 29, to Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, and circulated to all senators and members of the House of Representatives.
According to Ogunlana, the decision to extend the resumption date is to enable lawmakers to fully participate in the 2025 Workers’ Day celebrations and also attend to pressing matters within their constituencies.
“I am directed to inform Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members, and the general public that the resumption of plenary sessions for both chambers has been moved from Tuesday, 29th April 2025, to Tuesday, 6th May 2025,” the notice read in part.
The statement further urged lawmakers and the public to take note of the new date, while expressing regrets for any inconvenience the change might cause.
The Clerk appreciated the understanding of stakeholders and reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to its legislative duties.
