President Bola Tinubu, speaking at the 13th convocation ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to incorporate NOUN graduates into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Tinubu, represented by Noel Salihu, Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), emphasized the need for equal opportunities, announcing the admission of NOUN Law graduates into the Nigeria Law School.


This decision aims to address longstanding concerns and uncertainties surrounding the National Open University of Nigeria graduates’ eligibility for the NYSC scheme and Law School admission.

Highlighting the significance of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Tinubu underscored his administration’s commitment to enhancing ODL to broaden access to higher education, aligning with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The president’s directive marks a step towards inclusivity and equal opportunities in Nigeria’s educational landscape, promising improved quality, access, and affordability in higher education.
