Abuja, Nigeria – The case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been reassigned to a new judge at the Federal High Court. This development follows the recusal of the previous judge handling the matter.
The confirmation came in a statement on Saturday from Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, who revealed that the legal team had received two significant official letters regarding the case.
According to Ejimakor, one of the letters came from the Chief Justice of Nigeria in response to the legal team’s earlier request for administrative intervention to ensure a proper reassignment of the case. The second letter, from the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, officially informed them that the case had been transferred to a new judge.
Following this update, Kanu expressed his gratitude to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for her prompt action and also appreciated the public for supporting the call for a reassignment.
Ejimakor emphasized that Kanu has always been prepared to stand trial, as he strongly believes in his innocence.
