The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has refuted claims of an explosion occurring at the Port Harcourt Refining Company located in Rivers State, characterizing the event as a minor flare incident that did not pose any danger.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, clarified that no explosion took place at the facility and assured that the situation has been controlled effectively.

“What happened was a routine flare event, which has been completely managed. There is no threat to employees, nearby communities, or the environment,” the statement noted.

Additionally, NNPC called on the public to ignore misleading information regarding an explosion at the refinery, underscoring that regular operations have not been disrupted.
