The Edo governorship election witnessed a massive turnout of voters while in some quarters, the apathy was high due to heavy downpour.

Benin City, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collation of results for the Edo governorship election, which took place on Saturday, will commence at 10 AM today.

This information was made public in a statement issued early Sunday by the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Anugbum Onuoha. He assured the public that the collation process would be conducted with full transparency, adhering strictly to INEC’s established regulations.

The statement read: β€œThis is to inform the general public, stakeholders, and observers that the collation of results for the ongoing Edo State governorship election will resume today, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 10 AM.”

Dr. Onuoha emphasized INEC’s commitment to following the laid-down guidelines during the collation process and thanked the parties for their patience and cooperation.

β€œWe appreciate the patience and cooperation of the parties as we strive to ensure a credible and accurate outcome of this important election,” he stated.

He further appealed to all stakeholders to remain calm and orderly, stressing that INEC is dedicated to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process in Edo State.
