Osogbo, Nigeria – Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his commitment to uphold the constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid the ongoing chairmanship crisis within the party.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke emphasized that his stance is rooted in the principles of the party’s constitution, rather than aligning with any individual faction.

“As a governor, I fully support the decision of the PDP Governors’ Forum regarding this matter,” Adeleke stated. “I stand by the party’s constitution, which clearly outlines the succession process in the event of a chairman’s exit.”

The Governor stressed the importance of constitutional adherence, saying, “Our party must remain committed to its constitution, especially at this critical juncture. This is essential for fostering a responsible and accountable political organization.”

The statement reads in full:

“Yesterday, I clarified my position on the ongoing leadership crisis affecting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I reaffirmed my commitment to the Constitution of our great party, which clearly outlines the succession procedure in the event of the exit of an elected chairman.

I also fully support the resolution of the PDP Governors’ Forum, of which I am an integral part.

At this critical time, our party must adhere to its Constitution, as it must at all times. This is the only way to build a responsible and enduring political party.”

His comments come as the PDP faces internal disagreements over its leadership succession, with various stakeholders voicing differing opinions on how to resolve the crisis.
