Governor Fubara Takes Charge Of Local Government Councils, Sues For Peace

Gov. Fubara Vows to Combat Sea Piracy in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has directed Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to take charge of affairs in their respective councils, following the end of tenure for local council chairmen and councillors.

In a statewide broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Fubara commended the outgone council chairmen, vice chairmen, and councillors for their dedicated service and sacrifices, acknowledging their contributions to the state’s development.

He urged the HLGAs to provide leadership and direction in their local government areas, pending further directives. The governor also appealed for peace and harmony across the state, appreciating the support of Rivers people and promising to continue delivering on his administration’s promises.

Governor Fubara highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, health, education, workers’ welfare, and social welfare, reaffirming his commitment to defend the people and provide quality services.

The directive comes as the tenure of local government chairmen and councillors came to an end on Monday, June 17, 2024.
