Three opposition members of the Kebbi House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing mismanagement by PDP leaders in their constituencies.

The defectors, Umar Na’amore, Hashimu Usman, and Yusuf Abubakar-Tilli, informed the house of their decision in separate letters read by Speaker Muhammad Usman-Zuru on Tuesday.

They stated that the crisis in the PDP, caused by mismanagement, led to factionalization and division, allowing them to join another party and retain their seats.

Meanwhile, the house received a request from Governor Nasir Idris to confirm Muhammad Ashiru-Garba as the new Chairman of the Kebbi Local Government Service Commission, following the demise of the former chairman.

The speaker denied claims that the house was a “rubber stamp assembly” due to its good rapport with the executive arm, stating that they shared a common vision and mission with Governor Idris for the development and economic prosperity of Kebbi State.
