Benin City, Nigeria – In preparation for the Edo State governorship election set for September 21, 2024, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated the airlifting of sensitive materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Benin City.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the timely and secure delivery of vital electoral materials, according to a statement released by NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Kabiru Ali, on Wednesday.
Ali emphasized that the airlift operation demonstrates a strong collaboration between NAF and INEC, aimed at streamlining logistics and guaranteeing the smooth conduct of the election.

In a related development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), last week, called for the immediate removal of Anugbum Onuoha, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Edo State, citing his alleged closeness to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
At a press conference on Thursday, PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum condemned Onuoha’s appointment, stating that he is Wike’s cousin and former Special Adviser on Lands.
