A new WhatsApp group has been launched to rally support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s potential presidential candidacy in 2027.

The group, which already has 467 members, includes notable figures such as Olajide Odidiomo, a House of Representatives member for Ibadan Northwest/Southwest, and several of Governor Makinde’s aides, including his personal assistant on political matters, Akeem Azeez.

Local government officials are also participating in the group, which has voiced strong support for Makinde’s presidential ambitions. Members have praised his “people-oriented” approach to governance and leadership.

Although Makinde has not officially declared his intention to run for president, the formation of this support group is seen as a significant development.

The governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and currently serving his second term, has recently clashed with the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration over local government issues.
