Ningi, speaking on Arise News, stated that some key party members, including Wike, seem to be working against the party’s interest. He emphasized that the Board of Trustees, as the party’s conscience, is well-positioned to address the crisis.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees has expressed concern over the prolonged rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
Senator Abdul Ningi, a member of the Board, revealed that the party has written to the FCT Minister, seeking a meeting to resolve the crisis.
Ningi, speaking on Arise News, stated that some key party members, including Wike, seem to be working against the party’s interest. He emphasized that the Board of Trustees, as the party’s conscience, is well-positioned to address the crisis.
The meeting with Governor Fubara, held on Wednesday, aimed to understand his concerns and address rumors of his potential exit from the party. Ningi confirmed that Fubara assured the Board of his commitment to remaining a PDP member.
The Board of Trustees is set to meet with Wike to discuss the crisis, particularly his involvement with the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) as a minister in their government. Wike has been at odds with the PDP leadership since losing the presidential primary election in May 2022.
“The PDP is working to resolve the internal conflicts and ensure the party’s survival, with the Board of Trustees playing a crucial role in the reconciliation process,” Ningi concluded.
