Abuja,Nigeria – Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day celebration.
A statement issued on Thursday by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), confirmed the development.
Senegal commemorates its Independence Day annually on April 4, marking its liberation from French colonial rule in 1960. The occasion is observed with various national festivities, including parades and cultural showcases.
This year’s event will take place at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye playing host to Vice President Shettima and other dignitaries from across Africa and beyond.
