The incident occurred on Monday during preparations for a burial ceremony slated for January 2. A group of armed assailants stormed the gathering and opened fire indiscriminately, killing five security operatives and two civilians.

The gunmen later targeted security personnel stationed near the local government headquarters as they fled, causing further casualties and chaos.

“Communities must rise now and come together. Those who are doing this are within this Ihiala. If you are PG (President General), or leader, or group leader, get information about what is happening,” Soludo said.

He further pledged a N10 million bounty for any information that leads to the capture of the attackers.

“We are placing N10 million on their heads, each of them who carried out this crime,” the governor stated. “These people who did this, their lineage will never see anything good. They, their families, their children, and everything about them will never see any good thing.”

The Anambra State government has intensified efforts to address insecurity in the region, urging citizens to provide critical information to authorities.
