Abuja, Nigeria – The State House has allocated N15.09 billion for the procurement of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, operational vehicles, plain cars, and the construction of a new office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
This was revealed in the 2025 Appropriation Bill released by the Budget Office of the Federation on Thursday, following President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the N49.70 trillion budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday. The budget, titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” emphasizes defence, infrastructure, and human capital development, with a deficit of N13.39 trillion expected to be financed through borrowing.
In the bill, the State House, which coordinates the executive arm of government, earmarked N164 million for the purchase of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, jeeps, platform trucks, and other operational cars. Additionally, N1.1 billion is allocated for replacing SUV vehicles, while N3.66 billion will go toward the purchase of State House operational vehicles.
The document further detailed that N127.86 million will be spent on SUVs for the President and Vice President under the President’s office. The Chief of Staff’s office has been allocated N285 million for motor vehicles, while the Chief Security Officer to the President is set to receive N179.63 million for security and operational vehicles.
An amount of N2.12 billion is budgeted for honorarium and sitting allowances, while N1.83 billion is proposed for the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
The budget also outlines significant allocations for defence, infrastructure, education, and health. Defence and security are set to receive N4.91 trillion, while N4.06 trillion is allocated for infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Highway. Education will get N3.52 trillion, which includes funding for Universal Basic Education and nine new higher institutions, while the health sector is allocated N2.48 trillion for improving healthcare systems and providing essential drugs for public hospitals.
The proposal is based on several economic assumptions, including a projected reduction in inflation from 34.6% to 15% and an improved naira exchange rate from N1,700 to N1,500 per dollar.
President Tinubu, during his address at the National Assembly, reiterated his administration’s focus on enhancing security and revamping critical infrastructure to spur economic growth.
