Some Universities in the United Kingdom (UK) have reportedly deregistered some foreign students including Nigerians studying in their institutions because of the new immigration rules announced by the country.
The deregistered students are also advised to leave the country by their respective institutions, according to Benjamin Kuti, the president of the Nigerians in UK Community (NIUK) in a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Kuti, fondly known as Oluomo took to his X account on Saturday to announce the unfortunate development.
He wrote: “So many universities have deregistered students in the UK and advised to leave the country.”
Confirming the ugly development, @kelvinstrangee wrote while reacting to Oluomo’s tweet, wrote “Oluomo this is the case for my cousin in Portsmouth. Is there any Visa they can be on for now till he gets sponsorship? He certainly doesn’t want to go back to Nigeria.”
Oluko while responding to some reactions wrote: “Sure they are eligible to work part time while studying, provided they’re still enrolled in the school, cos if they are not enrolled their right to work will be cancelled which will make them ineligible to work.

Recall that REPORT AFRIQUE earlier reported that the United Kingdom recently announced tougher visa rules for Nigerians and other countries seeking work visas into the country, which is meant to reduce migration by over 300,000 in UK, according to the UK Home Office.
