Additionally, travelers are encouraged to continue carrying their BRP cards along with their passports when traveling abroad to confirm their right to re-enter the UK.
London – The United Kingdom (UK) has announced the expansion of its eVisa system to include new biometric applicants, according to a press release issued on Friday.
This development is part of the UK’s ongoing efforts to modernize and simplify its immigration process.
The new system will replace traditional physical documents, including Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs), vignette stickers, and wet ink stamps, with digital alternatives, phasing out physical documentation. Instead, visa holders will be granted an online immigration status, accessible through a United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.
The change applies to those granted visas to stay in the United Kingdom for longer than six months, such as for work or study. These individuals will now be required to create a UKVI online account to access their eVisa.
A UK government spokesperson highlighted the benefits of the new system, stating, “We are constantly innovating to make it easier for Pakistanis to travel to the United Kingdom. This new use of technology will streamline a key part of the visa process, make it more secure, and reduce the dependence on paper documents.”
The press release also advised travelers not to journey to the United Kingdom until they have received both their passport and valid visa from the Visa Application Centre.
Additionally, travelers are encouraged to continue carrying their BRP cards along with their passports when traveling abroad to confirm their right to re-enter the United Kingdom.
