WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Results, 215,267 Results Withheld

WAEC announces the official release of the 2024 WASSCE results for school candidates, marking the culmination of this year’s examination process.

The announcement was made by Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, at a briefing on Monday.

Dr. Dangut reported that out of 1,814,736 registered candidates from 25,126 secondary schools, 1,685,889 results have been fully processed and released. However, 119,327 results are still pending due to unresolved issues, with efforts underway to finalize these within days.

A significant number of 109,115 candidates with special needs were accommodated in the examination, including those with visual, hearing, and physical challenges. Their results have also been released alongside others.

The examination saw 1,805,216 candidates participate, with 896,894 males and 908,322 females. Of these, 1,332,089 candidates (73.79%) achieved credit or above in a minimum of five subjects. Specifically, 1,301,941 candidates (72.12%) earned credits in English Language and Mathematics. There was a decrease in this performance metric from 79.81% in 2023 to 72.12% in 2024.

WAEC has withheld the results of 215,267 candidates (11.92%) due to reported examination malpractices.

This figure represents a decrease from the 16.29% recorded in 2023. Additionally, results for candidates sponsored by states with outstanding payments to WAEC are also withheld until these debts are settled.

Dr. Dangut assured that results will be accessible on the WAEC results website within 12 hours of request and certificates will be issued within 48 hours.
