Wike Vows to Stay in PDP Despite Internal Crisis

Wike Visits Ongoing Construction, Assures Completion in Line with Renewed Hope Agenda

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, affirmed the scheduled commissioning of the Vice President’s residence by President Bola Tinubu on May 29. During a visit to the construction site in Abuja, Wike expressed confidence in the project’s progress, emphasizing its alignment with Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda.”

The project, initially approved in 2010 by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at a cost of N7 billion, was revitalized under the current administration with a contract review totaling N15 billion. Wike lauded the infrastructural developments in the FCT, attributing them to Tinubu’s vision for national renewal.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Wike emphasized the importance of informing citizens about the tangible progress achieved within Tinubu’s first year in office. He underscored the significance of projects’ inauguration in restoring public trust in the government.

Addressing concerns about the VP residence’s location, Wike assured that security and logistical considerations were thoroughly evaluated by relevant authorities.

Measures to mitigate potential traffic congestion were being implemented by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and construction partner Julius Berger.

Wike’s visit aimed to assess the readiness of the residence for its scheduled inauguration in May, ensuring compliance with security standards and accessibility requirements. He reiterated the administration’s dedication to delivering a residence of superior quality, security, and convenience for the Vice President.

President Tinubu has just given his approval to the N1.15 trillion budget proposal put forward by Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister.

The Minister has emphasized that the 2024 appropriation budget for the FCT will focus on the comprehensive development of Abuja, aiming to elevate its status to that of a global city.
