Chief Imam of the FCT Minister’s official residence, Imam Lawal Mustapha, lauded Wike for his generosity, describing the initiative as a demonstration of responsible leadership. He called on leaders at all levels to prioritize the welfare of their communities.
Abuja, Nigeria – In a bid to support the observance of Ramadan, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has donated 10,000 bags of 25kg rice to various religious organizations, community groups, and special needs institutions.
The donation, which was officially distributed in Gwagwalada on Monday, was presented on behalf of the Minister by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Chidi Amadi. Speaking at the event, Amadi highlighted the essence of Ramadan, emphasizing that the period is marked by fasting, prayer, and almsgiving. He noted that Wike’s gesture was aimed at assisting the less privileged during this sacred season.
“Ramadan is a significant period for our Muslim brothers and sisters, a time dedicated to prayer, fasting, and giving. The Honourable Minister recognizes the importance of almsgiving in this holy month and has, therefore, decided to support the religious community in the FCT by providing 10,000 bags of rice,” Amadi stated.
He further urged religious leaders and organizations to ensure that the food items reach those who need them the most, stressing the importance of fairness in distribution.
Among the beneficiaries was the School for the Deaf, whose principal, Alhaji Abdulrazzaq Ademola, expressed profound gratitude for the donation. He noted that the rising cost of food had made life more difficult for vulnerable groups, and this intervention would provide much-needed relief.
“We deeply appreciate this act of kindness. The Honourable Minister has demonstrated true leadership by extending support to educational institutions, particularly those catering to special needs students. This donation is timely and will greatly assist those struggling with food scarcity,” Ademola said.
Similarly, Chief Imam of the FCT Minister’s official residence, Imam Lawal Mustapha, lauded Wike for his generosity, describing the initiative as a demonstration of responsible leadership. He called on leaders at all levels to prioritize the welfare of their communities.
“This initiative is commendable. Acts of kindness like this strengthen our communities. In Islam, generosity is a virtue, and we pray for the Minister’s continued success and protection. Leaders should always seek to support those in need,” Imam Mustapha remarked.
