Texas Democrat, Al Green, Pushes for Impeachment After Trump Proposes U.S. Control of Gaza, Calls Remarks ‘Ethnic Cleansing’

Texas Democratic Rep. Alexander N. Green(AL Green) announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against U.S President Donald Trump after Trump suggested that the U.S. should take control of Gaza.

“The movement to impeach the president has begun,”

Green declared on the House floor Wednesday.

“I will bring articles of impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”

The controversy erupted after Trump, during a White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, floated the idea of America overseeing the war-ravaged Gaza Strip. He suggested that the U.S. should be responsible for rebuilding the region but provided no details on who would reside there.

Trump’s remarks come amid the fragile Israel-Hamas ceasefire and have drawn fierce criticism. Green and other Democrats condemned the idea as “ethnic cleansing,” warning that it could further inflame tensions in the Middle East.

“Ethnic cleansing is not a joke,” Green asserted.

“When it comes from the president of the United States, the most powerful person in the world, it becomes a dangerous possibility. The prime minister of Israel should be ashamed, given the history of his people.”

Green, a vocal critic of Trump, was among the first lawmakers to push for impeachment in 2017. Now, he says the time has come again.

“On some issues, it is better to stand alone than not stand at all,” Green said. “I stand alone, but I stand for justice.”

He urged the public to rally behind impeachment, emphasizing that such efforts require a “grassroots movement.”

The White House has yet to respond to Green’s announcement.
