Gaza, Palestine – Five journalists working for a Palestinian TV channel were killed on Thursday when an Israeli airstrike hit their broadcast vehicle in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. The Israeli military stated the strike targeted a “terrorist cell.”

Incident Details

The journalists, affiliated with Al-Quds Today, were identified as Faisal Abu Al-Qumsan, Ayman Al-Jadi, Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Khalil, Fadi Hassouna, and Mohammed Al-Lada’a. Al-Quds Today is linked to Islamic Jihad, a militant group allied with Hamas in the ongoing conflict. The channel claimed the individuals were killed “while performing their journalistic and humanitarian duty” and vowed to continue its “resistant media message.”

Eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli missile struck the parked broadcast truck outside Al-Awda Hospital, setting the vehicle on fire and killing those inside. The strike has drawn widespread condemnation from press freedom organizations.

Israeli Military Statement

The Israeli military confirmed targeting the vehicle, stating intelligence indicated that the individuals were “Islamic Jihad operatives posing as journalists.” The military added that it had taken measures to minimize civilian harm before the attack.


The Committee to Protect Journalists expressed devastation at the incident, stating, “Journalists are civilians and must always be protected.” The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate reported that over 190 journalists have been killed and more than 400 injured since the war began.
