PARIS– A newborn baby died in Paris on Monday after an 18-year-old American mother threw the infant out of a hotel window with the umbilical cord still attached, according to French authorities.

Shocking Discovery Outside Paris Hotel

The tragic incident occurred in the 20th arrondissement of eastern Paris. Police were alerted after discovering the baby wrapped in a cloth in front of the hotel. Emergency responders provided care, but the newborn was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. at Robert Debré Hospital.

Authorities revealed that the young woman, Mia McQuillin, 18, was part of “a group of young people traveling in Europe” as part of a gap year between high school and college when she gave birth inside her ibis Styles hotel room on the second floor before throwing the child out of the window. French prosecutors have launched a murder investigation, and the mother has been taken into custody.

Authorities are investigating whether McQuillin, who grew up in a $1 million bungalow in Bend, was suffering a case of pregnancy denial, a psychological condition where a woman is unaware of or unable to accept her pregnancy. when she allegedly tossed the infant out the window around 6 a.m. Monday morning

Her grandfather, Ralph McQuillin, told reporters that he couldn’t comment on the horrific incident because

“I don’t know anything. And that’s pretty much where the family is,” he said. “That’s all I can say.”

Mother Undergoing Medical Treatment

Following her arrest, the young woman was transferred to a hospital for medical care. Reports suggest she was on a study trip with other American students when the incident took place.
