Paris Olympics 2024: Pregnant Archer's Unborn child brings Good Luck

In a heartwarming moment at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Archer Yaylagul Ramazanova, a 34-year-old athlete from Azerbaijan, made history by carrying her unborn child as her lucky charm and defeating China’s An Qixuan in the competition.

Ramazanova, who is six and a half months pregnant, credited her unborn child for giving her an extra boost of energy and motivation.

“I felt my baby kick me before I shot this last arrow, and then I shot a 10,” Ramazanova shared with Xinhua News, beaming with pride. The highest score in archery, the 10 proved to be the decisive factor in her victory.

Even Team USA’s top-ranked archer, Casey Kaufhold, was impressed by Ramazanova’s achievement. “I think it’s awesome that we see more expecting mothers shooting in the Olympic Games and it’s great to have one in the sport of archery,” Kaufhold said in an interview with The Associated Press. “She shot really well, and I think it’s really cool because my coach is also a mother and she’s been doing so much to support her kids even while she’s away.”

Kaufhold added that Ramazanova’s story serves as a reminder that women can achieve their goals even in the most challenging situations. “I think it’s awesome for this archer that one day, she can tell her kid, ‘Hey, I went to the Olympic Games and you were there, too.'”

Ramazanova’s journey is not an isolated one. Egyptian fencer Nada Haze also competed at the Paris Olympics while seven months pregnant. In an Instagram post, Haze wrote, “What appears to you as two players on the podium, they were actually three! It was me, my competitor, & my yet-to-come to our world, little baby!”

As Ramazanova’s story continues to inspire millions around the world, it serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of women.
