Racial Abuse on The Rise In South Africa As White Farmer, Two Workers Accused of Murdering Black Women and Feeding Bodies to Pigs
A horrific incident in South Africa has ignited outrage after a 60-year-old white farmer, Zachariah Johannes Olivier, and his two workers, Adrian de Wet (19) and William Musora (50), were accused of murdering two Black women, Maria Makgato (45) and Lucia Ndlovu (34), and feeding their bodies to pigs.
The tragic event occurred in the Limpopo province near Polokwane. The women, who were reportedly searching for discarded food, were allegedly shot by the suspects. Their bodies were then fed to pigs in a chilling attempt to destroy evidence.
Protests have erupted outside the court as the accused await their bail hearing. The case has reignited racial tensions in South Africa, particularly in rural areas where lingering divisions from the apartheid era remain.
Walter Mathole, Makgato’s brother, expressed his outrage, stating that the brutal killings have further deepened the nation’s divisions. “This has shaken us to our core,” he said.
The suspects also face additional charges of attempted murder for shooting at Ms. Ndlovu’s husband, Mabutho Ncube, who survived the attack and managed to seek medical help. The police later discovered the women’s decomposing bodies in a pigsty.
Ncube recounted his harrowing escape, while Makgato’s son, Ranti, described the anguish his family is enduring. “I will sleep better if the alleged killers are denied bail,” he said.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has called for the immediate closure of the farm, warning that its products pose a danger to the public.
This shocking incident follows another disturbing event in Lutzville, where a 70-year-old white farmer, Christoffel Stoman, was accused of running over a 6-year-old Black child, Khwezi Jantjies, accusing him of stealing an orange from his farm. Khwezi survived, though with broken legs, and his mother, Magdalena Jantjies, condemned the farmer’s actions and lack of remorse.
As these tragic events unfold, South Africans are calling for justice and demanding that the perpetrators face the full extent of the law.
