Trump Files Complaint Accusing UK Labour of Election Interference as Nearly 100 Party Officials Join Harris Campaign Efforts
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a formal complaint against the UK’s Labour Party, accusing it of meddling in the upcoming U.S. presidential election by assisting his opponent, Kamala Harris.
The controversy erupted after a Labour Party staffer revealed on LinkedIn that nearly 100 party officials had crossed the Atlantic to campaign for the Democrats in crucial swing states ahead of the November 5 election. Although Labour insists that volunteers are funding their own travel and accommodation to comply with U.S. federal election laws, Trump’s campaign team is skeptical.
In a letter to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Trump campaign lawyer Gary Lawkowski questioned whether Labour could be covering some of the activists’ expenses.
“The interference is occurring in plain sight,” he wrote,
calling for an immediate investigation.
Lawkowski also took a swipe at Labour’s involvement, referencing the anniversary of the British surrender at Yorktown: “It appears that the Labour Party and the Harris for President campaign have forgotten the message.”
The UK government has distanced itself from the issue, emphasizing that the activists are volunteering in a personal capacity and their actions do not represent the official position of the British government. The Labour Party has not yet responded to the allegations.
This marks another chapter in the ongoing saga of alleged foreign interference in U.S. elections, now with a surprising twist involving a major British political party.
