Galatasaray recently had a €65 million bid rejected by Napoli, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly holding out for a higher fee. Osimeh still has over two years remaining on his contract with the Serie A club, setting the stage for an intense summer transfer battle.

London – Premier League side Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimeh joining Chelsea in pursuit of the Nigerian international. Napoli is reportedly ready to sell Osimhen when his loan spell at Galatasaray concludes this summer.

Osimeh, 26, has been in impressive form for the Turkish league leaders, scoring 17 goals in 22 appearances. His performances have attracted interest from multiple English clubs, as well as teams in Saudi Arabia.

Newcastle had previously withdrawn from negotiations last summer due to Napoli’s £113 million valuation of the striker. However, with Osimeh’s reported release clause now dropping to around £60 million, the Magpies have renewed their interest. One potential stumbling block remains his wages, as the forward was earning over £200,000 per week at Napoli before taking a reduced salary of £110,000 at Galatasaray.

Arsenal, long-time admirers of Osimeh, are also monitoring the situation but are believed to have shifted their focus to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. If Osimhen moves to St James’ Park, it could open the door for Isak’s departure, with Arsenal among those interested in the Swedish striker.

The Nigerian forward moved to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer after a fallout with the Italian club’s hierarchy. His loan deal did not include an option to buy, and he turned down potential moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia due to personal terms.

Despite having an exit clause in his loan agreement for a potential January move, the Nigerian superstar opted to remain in Turkey, where he has helped Galatasaray maintain a six-point lead in the Super Lig and impressed in the Europa League with five goals in six appearances.
