Gunmen allegedly attacked De Porsche Nightclub in Oba, Idemili South local government area of Anambra State, left at least seven people dead and several others injured, local police have confirmed.
A source who is very close to the family of the owner of the club told REPORT AFRIQUE that the gunmen arrived at the club around 12am on Sunday night and began shooting sporadically before attempting to kidnap the owner of the club.
They were then met with resistance by the security men stationed at the club and in the process gunned down 7 persons. One of the victims was beheaded by the assailants.
A video of the scene of the incident seen by REPORT AFRIQUE had four persons lying dead, with one of them beheaded, at the vicinity of the nightclub. The recording was said to have been made moments after the gunmen left the nightclub after perpetuating the havoc.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga has confirmed the incident.
Ikenga said: “Yes, the incident happened. Our men were alerted and they quickly moved to the scene of the incident, but the gunmen had already fled.
“Our men have recovered the bodies of the vigilante operatives who were fatally wounded, while others sustained various degrees of injury.
“We have also fully deployed our men to Oba, and the operation is ongoing. So far, no arrest has been made”.
