Three travellers who were kidnapped near Port Harcourt in Rivers State have been successfully rescued, Rivers Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko has said.
The abduction occurred on Tuesday when gunmen intercepted vehicles along the Obiri-Kwere-Airport Road, forcibly pulling out occupants and taking them to an unknown location.
The kidnapped travellers were rescued by gallant officers attached to the Rivers State police command after swinging into action on receiving the report of the abduction.
The Rivers State Police Command deployed tactical teams and divisional officers to the scene, implementing security measures. The release of the victims took more than 24 hours, and they have now been reunited with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasized the importance of security measures during a meeting with area commanders and divisional officers. The successful outcome is attributed to the pressure and massive police presence.
