In anticipation of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s second term inauguration on January 15, 2023, Chief Ejike Lucky Chukwu, CEO of Megadrill Nigeria Limited and former governorship aspirant shared his thoughts on the Governor’s first term and expectations for the upcoming tenure.
Reflecting on the journey so far, Chief Chukwu acknowledged the challenges faced by Governor Uzodimma but commended his tenacity and doggedness. He praised the construction of durable major highways while urging the Governor to focus on local government infrastructure in the next term, emphasizing the importance of roads, functional hospitals, and schools in rural areas.
Highlighting commendable initiatives like the Homeland Security Watch and digitalization of the payroll system, Chief Chukwu advised the administration to deepen its commitment to uplifting the lives of the Imo people. He urged a more localized approach to development, emphasizing the need to address the needs of vulnerable populations.
As an Imo son and entrepreneur, Chief Chukwu expressed expectations for the second term, including the commencement and completion of the Orashi River dredging, increased government participation in the local oil and gas sector, and a focus on the activities of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). He stressed the potential for Owerri to become a significant city and urged collaboration for its growth in terms of security, safety, and promotion.
Commending the peaceful Yuletide in Imo State, Chief Chukwu extended gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for ensuring security and safety during the festive season. He emphasized the importance of public enlightenment and the promotion of Imo State to attract investments and position Owerri as a tourist and investment destination.
As Governor Hope Uzodimma prepares for his second term, the expectations and insights of Imo State’s own Chief Ejike Lucky Chukwu shed light on the aspirations and hopes for the state’s continued development.
This was contained in a statement made available to the public by Barr. Bright Nwakaibea, a close ally to Chief Ejike Chukwu.
It is worth recalling, however, that Governor Hope Uzodinma won his re-election bid in the governorship election of the state held in November last year.
Governor Hope Uzodinma’s emergence as the governor in his first tenure through the Supreme Court ruling was a subject of debate as many questioned how someone who finished 4th in the election could be declared the winner by the apex court.
Governor Hope Uzodinma is a staunch supporter of the “ReNewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu, which has earned him the support of Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power.
