Nigerian Army to Establish $3.2 Million Aviation Hangar at Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to establish an Army Aviation Hangar worth $3.2 million at the newly renovated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna. The coordinator of the Nigerian Army Aviation, Brigadier General Musa Alkali, revealed this during a courtesy call on Niger State governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in Minna.

According to Brig. Gen. Alkali, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna has met all necessary requirements for the creation of the hangar, including approval from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Federal Ministry of Aviation. The construction of the hangar, set to commence soon, is expected to bring immense economic benefits to the state.

Once completed, the Minna hangar will house 12 attack helicopters of the MD530 series, 10 TB2 UAVs, and 8 Magnus Light Attack Aircraft for surveillance, reconnaissance, and patrol missions, among other activities. Brig. Gen. Alkali emphasized that the establishment of the hangar will eliminate delays associated with aircraft maintenance and provide an affordable parking solution for private jet owners in Minna.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Army Headquarters for approving the establishment of the Aviation Hangar in Minna. He revealed that the project would be financed by the Pan-African Business Forum as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Governor Bago hailed the initiative as a welcome development that would significantly contribute to the state’s economy and attract more investors.

In light of the impending establishment of the hangar, Governor Bago announced the state government’s plans to invest in the hospitality industry. This strategic move aims to cater to the needs of business travelers and investors who may flock to Minna following the development of the aviation infrastructure. By bolstering the hospitality sector, the state government aims to provide accommodation and amenities for visitors, further boosting economic growth and development.
