The Lagos State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in combating illegal activities within the state.
Operatives revealed the bust of a counterfeit drink factory situated in the Agege area, resulting in the arrest of four individuals suspected of orchestrating the illicit operation.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the raid was executed following credible intelligence received by officers of the Isokoko Division. Hundeyin reported the seizure of fake alcoholic beverages, alongside empty bottles and labels representing various renowned brands.
Reacting to the arrest, Nigerians on X applauded the Nigerian Police for their timely intervention.
This recent operation follows earlier efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on counterfeit goods. In December 2023, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control intercepted counterfeiters involved in the production of fake beverages worth over N750 million in Aba, Abia state.
Additionally, officers from the Lagos State Police Command’s Ojo Division apprehended two suspects for possessing counterfeit drinks, leading to the discovery of a clandestine factory.
The ongoing investigation into the fake drink factory underscores the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to ensure the safety and well-being of residents by eliminating illicit practices within the state.
