The distribution of essential food items to constituents in Kano State has commenced, as the Member representing Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Ghali Mustapha Panda, flagged off the distribution of 18,600 bags of grains.
Addressing the gathering at the event in Kano on Friday, Panda expressed his commitment to bringing relief to his constituents, particularly during the Holy month of Ramadan. He emphasized that the prevailing economic challenges and hardships in the country motivated him to initiate the distribution of palliatives to alleviate the suffering of his constituents.
Explaining the breakdown of the distribution, the Representative revealed plans to distribute 3,600 bags of 25kg rice, along with 3,000 bags of 10kg rice. Additionally, 6,000 bags of 10kg maize flour and 6,000 bags of 10kg millet will also be shared among the constituents.
Panda outlined his broader plans for the constituency in the first quarter of 2024, which include the disbursement of N20 million to 1,000 youths. He also highlighted upcoming initiatives such as the distribution of farming inputs to thousands of farmers in the second quarter, launching empowerment schemes for over 3,000 youths and women in the third quarter, and undertaking infrastructure projects like repairing and building classes, schools, and roads in the fourth quarter.
In a preceding remark, Special Adviser to the Kano State governor on political matters, Sunusi Kwankwaso, commended Panda for his generosity and commitment to serving the people. Representing the state government at the event, Kwankwaso praised the efforts of the new set of lawmakers, particularly those from the NNPP, for their dedication to improving the lives of their constituents. He drew parallels between their actions and the ethos of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, led by Rabi’u Kwankwaso, emphasizing their shared commitment to grassroots development.
Kwankwaso urged other lawmakers to emulate Panda’s example and prioritize the welfare of their constituents. He reassured those who have not yet received foodstuffs that they will soon benefit from similar initiatives, expressing confidence in Panda’s dedication to representing their interests effectively.
The distribution of grains represents a significant step towards providing relief to vulnerable members of the community, particularly amid ongoing economic challenges and the observance of Ramadan. Panda’s proactive approach to addressing the needs of his constituents reflects a commitment to grassroots development and underscores the importance of responsive and accountable leadership at all levels of governance.
