Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, a former Justice of the Court of Appeal, has passed away at the age of 71.
The sad news was confirmed on Tuesday night by Kamaldeen Gambari, Esq., chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin branch in Kwara State.
Belgore, who retired from the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023, after reaching the retirement age of 70, had a distinguished legal career spanning decades. Born on April 18, 1953, Belgore studied Law at Ahmadu Bello University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979.
Throughout his career, Belgore held various prestigious positions within the Nigerian judiciary, including serving as a Judge of the High Court of Justice in Kwara State and as a Justice of Appeal in The Gambia. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in Nigeria in 2006 and served with honor until his retirement.
Belgore’s contributions to the legal profession were widely recognized, with appointments to esteemed bodies such as the Body of Benchers of Nigeria and receiving the title of Life Bencher in 2021.
The late jurist leaves behind a legacy of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to justice. May his soul rest in peace.
