The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has generously donated 25 operational vehicles and surveillance drones to the State Police Command. This strategic move aims to enhance the effectiveness of policing across the state and ensure the safety and security of its residents.

The donation ceremony, which took place at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, was presided over by the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. Governor Abiodun, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of providing law enforcement agencies with the necessary equipment and resources to carry out their duties effectively. He highlighted the significance of the equipment and patrol vans in supporting the Police in maintaining law and order across the state.

During the ceremony, the vehicles were handed over to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who was on a three-day working visit to the state. The Inspector General expressed his gratitude to Governor Abiodun for the generous assistance extended to the Police Force. He revealed that approval had been granted for the establishment of three additional area commands and police stations in strategic locations across the state, demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing security infrastructure.

IGP Egbetokun reiterated his dedication to building a professionally competent police force and transforming the policing landscape in Nigeria. He outlined plans to expand police presence in Ogun State by establishing more police stations and area commands, as well as deploying additional mobile police squadrons to strengthen security efforts.

Speaking on ongoing police reform initiatives, IGP Egbetokun emphasized the importance of creating a service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and people-friendly police force. He stressed the need for collaboration between state governments, the public, and law enforcement agencies to achieve significant improvements in crime prevention and response.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in combating crime and insecurity in Nigeria. He commended the innovative leadership of IGP Egbetokun and pledged to continue collaborating with the Nigerian Police to enhance community policing initiatives.
