President Tinubu Launches Education Campaign, Advocates for Inclusive Learning

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled an education campaign titled #WeAreEqual, targeted at promoting inclusive education, skill development, and gender equity.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), aims to address educational challenges across Africa.

The Nigerian segment of the education campaign, dubbed ‘Education as a Powerful Tool for Change’, was inaugurated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria. President Tinubu commended the efforts of African First Ladies in advancing gender equality and bridging the gender gap.

During the launch event held at the State House, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for all children, especially girls, to access quality education. He highlighted the significance of education in fostering societal development and ensuring a more equitable and peaceful society.

The President noted the reintroduction of the Alternative High School for Girls, a program aimed at offering a second chance to young girls who have dropped out of school. This initiative, inspired by similar successful programs, seeks to empower girls to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

President Tinubu stressed that education is fundamental to national development and reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating structural inequalities that hinder women’s progress.

He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the Student’s Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act and a non-repayable grant program for Nigerians engaged in nano businesses and skilled trades.

Furthermore, President Tinubu pledged to tackle gender-based violence and create safe learning environments for girls. He reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that no Nigerian child is deprived of quality education.

The launch of the #WeAreEqual Campaign in Nigeria signals a renewed commitment to promoting inclusive education and empowering women and girls to lead positive change in their communities.
