In a recent development within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, has been suspended for alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension, carried out by 16 members of the APC Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward 11 in Okitipupa Local Government Area, was outlined in a notice obtained by SaharaReporters.
The notice, signed by ward executive members including Bakere Usuf, Tore Obwoselu, Oloyinmi Idowu, and others, cited Senator Ibrahim’s actions as a violation of the party’s constitution, particularly highlighting his decision to sue the party and engage in anti-party activities.
The suspension is effective immediately in accordance with Article 21, Section A of the APC Constitution.
The suspension comes in the wake of a meeting chaired by the National Party Chairman of APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, with all Ondo State governorship aspirants.
Despite party directives to cooperate with the party’s candidate and incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Honorable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim proceeded to sue both the Governor and APC.
Furthermore, he has been accused of urging his supporters in Igbotako and Ondo State to join the NPP, claiming he will soon receive the gubernatorial ticket from them.
Senator Ibrahim’s actions, as described in the notice, indicate a deliberate intent to disrupt the APC before his departure from the party, further exacerbated by his derogatory remarks about the APC in various media outlets.
