In a significant operation, operatives of the Abia State Police Command have successfully rescued three children who were abducted by an unknown cyclist from Amoba Okoro village in Ikwuanno Local Government Area of Abia State. The children, Gideon Osinachi (8), Obioma Divine Osinachi (6), and Israel Osinachi (4), were taken away by the cyclist who had been hired by their grandmother to take them home after a visit.
The rescue mission, which lasted over a month, was conducted in collaboration with other security agencies. Obioma was freed on May 21 in Ekwulobia, Anambra State, while Gideon was rescued on May 23 at Nkpor, also in Anambra State. Israel was finally found on June 13 in Warri, Delta State.
During the investigation and rescue efforts, police arrested five suspects, including a Reverend Sister, Pauline Alozie. The other suspects include Chizoba DJ, Glory Umuna, Georgina Nonye Okoye, and Philip Ibe. All the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court soon.
The police command has expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful rescue of the children. The command emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and the public in combating crimes.
The rescued children have been reunited with their family, bringing an end to a traumatic experience for them and their loved ones.
