The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended four individuals in relation to the murder of retired Brigadier General Uwem Udokwere in Abuja.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended on Sunday following credible intelligence. The suspects, who have confessed to the crime, were identified as Ibrahim Rabiu, 33; Nafiu Jamil, 33; Aliyu Abdullahi, 47; and Mohammed Nuhu, 28.
The retired general was stabbed to death by the suspects during a robbery incident at his residence in Sunshine Estate, Lokogoma area of Abuja, in the early hours of Saturday. The police have recovered the knife used in committing the crime and the deceased’s stolen phone.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and recover the pistols taken away from the deceased.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT, Benneth Igweh, disclosed that the command’s anti-kidnapping unit also arrested two wanted and notorious kidnap suspects in Dei-Dei Area of Abuja on May 26.
The suspects were escapees of Kuje Prison break in 2022 and members of the kidnap syndicate that stormed livestock estate in Dei-Dei in December 2023.
