A tragic incident has occurred in Zamfara State, resulting in the untimely demise of Professor Yusuf Saidu, the deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Development at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. According to reports, Professor Saidu was on an official duty trip to Kaduna State when his vehicle was mistaken for a police car by bandits fleeing from soldiers.
The bandits opened fire, resulting in the instant death of Professor Saidu and injuring his driver. The victim’s body and vehicle were later recovered and buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday.
